Getting from Hanoi to Ha Giang

Which bus companies
Dang Quang (Đăng Quang), Quang Tuyen (Quang Tuyến) and Bang Phan (Bằng Phấn) are the operators running this route. Expect to pay around 350,000 VND (roughly $13–14) per person.
What to expect on board
These are proper sleeper buses — flat-ish reclined berths, not upright seats — built for exactly this route. Bring a layer; air conditioning on overnight buses in Vietnam runs cold. Keep valuables and your passport with you rather than in checked luggage underneath.

Where this is wrong for you
If you cannot sleep on moving vehicles, six to seven hours on a night bus is a genuinely rough start to the trip — a daytime option or an extra rest day in Ha Giang City before starting may suit you better. Tell me and I will plan around it rather than assume you'll be fine.
